- Description: Andre Drummond was a 6'11", 276 lb. center for the University of Connecticut over the duration of the 2011-2012 season. He made waves around college basketball in August of 2011 when he decided to reclassify from the Class of 2012 into the Class of 2011 and join the defending national champion UConn Huskies. He was widely regarded as the second-ranked recruit behind Kentucky's Anthony Davis among recruiting websites. During his freshman year at UConn, he displayed his athleticism on the defensive end while running the floor and catching alley-oops. Drummond's greatest display of athleticism may have come on January 7, 2012 against Rutgers, when Drummond took off from the middle of the paint to throw down a thunderous one-handed dunk. Jay Bilas characterized Drummond's slam as "dunking on the entire state of New Jersey." He was thought of, despite his size and stature, as the fastest player on the UConn team. Since UConn lost its second appeal to the NCAA's decision to disallow the Huskies' participation in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, Drummond weighed his options, and ultimately decided to forgo his sophomore season at Connecticut. Upon declaring for the NBA Draft on April 12, 2012, he has been projected by nearly every major NBA mock draft website as a top 5 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. While his offensive game is very underdeveloped, some NBA scouts believe his athleticism can be harnessed by good coaching while his feel for the game improves.
