Those of you who have been following my long-running documentary on the Stryker have probably been wondering; how does the Stryker actually compare to it's equivalents around the world?
Well, starting with this presentation, you're going to find out!
This is the first of a long series of presentations that compare the vital performance statistics of the Stryker's variants against those of it's peers. For example, the M1126 Stryker ICV will be compared to APCs and IFVs, the M1127 Stryker RV will be compared to Scouts, the M1134 Stryker ATGM will be compared to other ATGM Carriers, and so on.
All the major performance attributes of the M1126 Stryker ICV will be compared in this particular presentation to the BTR-60PB, a Soviet vehicle of exactly the same class, although much, much older. More importantly, the BTR-60 is generally considered in the West to be little more than a moving target, so we're starting this series of comparisons with a vehicle that the Stryker --- if it were even *half* as good as the US Army ceaselessly claims --- should have no trouble beating in a competition of performance stats.
In other words, I'm going easy on the Stryker in the first comparison, by giving it a relatively weak opponent. After all, what would that say about the Stryker if it can't outperform a mere BTR-60?
I usually get support from VickersIndependent and meaninter03 on my presentations, but this time I had to go it alone --- getting these stats didn't require deep research, and meaninter03 wasn't able to edit the script for some reason.
