Description: the Deep Tow 2 (DT2) is a 5.5m long towfish with 3500m depth capability and with a payload of Simrad multibeam echo sounder, EdgeTech dual frequency chirp sidescan and chirp sub-bottom profiler.

The DT2 was towed at the end of a 6700m long cable at a constant height above the seafloor of between 40 and 50m. A pressure transducer obtained precise depth measurements and motion data were continually observed and recorded in real time motion corrected format.
A second vessel was deployed to track the DT2 via USBL. That data was telemetered back to the mother ship and combined with the real-time bathymetric and geophysical data.
