On Tuesday Fireworks kicked off the Flour Fight Festival in Ibi, Alicante in Spain. The Flour Fight Festival is exactly what the name suggests.

In the Spanish town of Ibi on Tuesday the annual Flour Fight Festival kicked off. The festival is 200 years old and takes place on the Spanish equivalent of April Fools day, December 28th.

The Mayor of the town bestows powers onto participants. They then roam the town in full combat gear collecting "taxes" from the public. But these taxes are really donations to charity, and if you don't pay, flour is coming your way.

In the town square a mock government and opposition engage in an all out battle and passersby are again forced to give donations in order to avoid the flour. The money is going to the town's home for the elderly.

Spain is known for its fiestas, others include the Valencia Tomato Festval -- which is also a hands on experience.
