    Regardless of whether or not he still posed a threat, he was still a mass murderer who was brought to justice. His death has been welcomed by Muslim organisations throughout the world.

    The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued this statement:
    "We join our fellow citizens in welcoming the announcement that Osama bin Laden has been eliminated as a threat to our nation and the world through the actions of American military personnel.

    As we have stated repeatedly since the 9/11 terror attacks, bin Laden never represented Muslims or Islam. In fact, in addition to the killing of thousands of Americans, he and Al-Qaeda caused the deaths of countless Muslims worldwide."


    Key points to note.

    - This mission was carried out with the knowledge of the Pakistani Government
    - This mission had apparently been carefully planned for the best part of 9 months, making sure that the intelligence was correct.
    - Osama Bin Laden's death does not mean the end of Al Queda. Bin Laden had apparently very little involvement in field opperations for a long time. To quote U.S. military analyst Mark Kimmit
    "This organisation (Al Qaeda) is more than Bin Laden, it may be symbolised by Bin Laden, but it definitely is more than Bin Laden"
    - No Pakistani civillians or U.S. personnel were harmed in this operation.
    - The death or capture of Bin Laden was made the number one priority of the counter terrorism strategy against Al Queda. A remarkable change from "I don't know where he is. I just don't spend that much time on him to be honest." that the previous President stated 6 months after the September 11th mass murder orchestrated by him.
    - Osama Bin Laden was NOT a Muslim leader. He was a Muslim who killed anyone, even other Muslims to achieve his goals. So please, no bigoted comments or racism in the comments section.
    - Al Jazeera broadcast this image which is believed to be of a bloodied Bin Laden after he was killed in a firefight with U.S. agents. Discretion is advised. http://tiny.cc/h2v3n
    - Officials have confirmed through DNA testing that it is in fact Osama Bin Laden's body that they took into custody.
