The Sajdah (Prostration) in an-Nahl. The hadeeth is mawqoof from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab رضى الله عنه, Saheeh in al-Bukhari رحمه الله. He prostrated when reciting this Surah when he was delivering a Khutbah (sermon) to the people on the minbar (pulpit of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم during his Khilafah (Caliphate)), but on the following Salatul Jum'ah (Friday Prayer) he did not prostrate, and said: "Whoever prostrates has done right and whoever does not prostrate, there is no sin on him." And (the hadeeth) is mawqoof from Ibn 'Umar رضى الله عنهما and Ibn 'Abbaas رضى الله عنهما, Saheeh in 'Abdur-Razzaaq رحمه الله.
The following invocation is usually recited during the prostration:
سَجَدَ وَجْهِي لِلَّذِي خَلَقَهُ وَصَوَّرَهُ وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ
Sajada wajhiya lilladhi khalaqahu wa sawwarahu, wa shaqqa sam'ahu wa basarahu, tabarak-Allahu Ahsan-ul-Khaliqeen [Saheeh Muslim, Vol. 4 Hadith No.201, an-Nasa'i Kitab ut-Tatbiq]
I have prostrated my face before the One Who created it, and shaped it, and opened it's faculties of hearing and seeing. Blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators.
We are aware of the fact that the translation of the meaning of the Glorious Qur'an, however accurate it may be, must fall short of conveying the wealth of the meaning that the miraculous text of the Original conveys; and that the meaning conveyed by translation is only the sum total of what the translator has understood from the text of the Glorious Book of Allah سبحانه و تعالى, and that it cannot escape the defects and drawbacks that are inherent in every human endeavour. We praise Allah سبحانه و تعالى for His favour to us in this great work, praying Him to accept this as a sincere service for His sake, and for the benefit of the Muslims and whomever it may reach.
May Allah سبحانه و تعالى guide you to Islam, Eeman and Ihsaan
* Note: all Ayat are interpretations of the meaning of the Surah in the english language, so you may understand.
Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) says: عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُّبِينٍ
(Upon your heart (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that you may be (one) of the warners. In the plain arabic language. [Surah ash-Shu'ara : Ayat 194-195]
