  • Description: Famous Studios Popeye the Sailor cartoon. This one was made during World War II when North America had a good neighbor policy with South America. That is the main premise for this cartoon. This cartoon also spoofs many of the "buddy" films (for example Bing Crosby and Bob Hope) that were made during the time. In this one, buddies Popeye and Bluto travel to Rio where they see a Brazilian version of Olive Oyl perform the Samba in a club. This cartoon marks the last voice work that Dave Barry did for Bluto. Starting in the next cartoon, Jackson Beck would permanently do the voice for Bluto. The voice for Olive Oyl is unknown as it is not Margie Hines or Mae Questel who voiced Olive in this film. This version has the original soundtrack restored. The Paramount logos were sourced from another cartoon (probably "She-Sick Sailors"). This version was made to be aired on Cartoon Network's "The Popeye Show", but the show was cancelled before this one could be aired.
