    KSTAM (Korean Smart Top-Attack Munition)

    The KSTAM (Korean Smart Top-Attack Munition) is a top-attack anti-tank munition. The minimum range of the munition is 2 km, while the maximum range is 8 km. It is fired in high trajectory. Radar and sensors identify a target, then EFP attack the top of it. (Millimeter band radar, IR sensor, radiometer sensor)
    KSTAM can shoot down hellicopters. (NCW-Data link).

    Type 90 was nice tank and JM-33 was not bad in 1990. Type 90 could be in top 3 in 1990. (M1A1, Leopard 2A4, Type 90). JM-33 120mm APFSDS - 550mm at 2 km. JM-33 was superior than Soviet 125mm APFSDS. Type 90's frontal armour can resist from JM-33 APFSDS.

    But there was no major upgrade. On the other hand, all the countries around the world upgrade fire power and armour. US M829A3 DU - 820mm at 2km. German DM-53 APFSDS - 810mm at 2km (L55 Gun). Korea K-1 Tank K-274N 105mm APFSDS 560 mm at 1 km. Korea K-2 tank protection trials from 120mm APFSDS (L55 Gun). K-2 could not be penetrated.

    So Type 90 could be placed no more than in top 10. Performance and shortcoming remained the same down the ages. Type 90's commander's panoramic sight is day-only sight. YAG laser rangefinder cause damage to gunner's eyes.
